University degrees

Various undergraduate and postgraduate courses are provided through the University of Queensland. There are several subjects available in weed science at both the Gatton and St Lucia campuses of UQ.

Undergraduate Subjects:

These fall into various categories such as:

	Weed Science
	Agricultural Pests
	Plant Protection
	Integrated Crop Management

Postgraduate:

Postgraduates may be involved in any aspect of weed science.  Often they obtain scholarships to undertake this research either through an external funding body as part of an existing project or through UQ and APA scholarships. 

Postgraduate courses constitute  honours, masters or PhD courses. Although predominantly research courses,  these may involve some coursework if desired.

Short courses

In addition to the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, the TSWRU is involved in the delivery of short courses. At present three short courses are available:

	Tropical Weed Science
	Tropical Plant Tissue Culture & Genetic Engineering
	Biological Control of Tropical Weeds

It is hoped that in the future short courses will be available in the following possible areas:

· Biotechnology in Weed Science
· Weed Identification
· Herbicide Resistance: Mechanisms and  
  Management
